SC Elro SRL Refurbishment of Figee Lemniscate Cranes

SC Elro SRL Refurbishment of Figee Lemniscate Cranes Early 2011 SC Elro SRL has been awarded a contract by TTS, a Romanian stevedore company, for the electrical refurbishment of 2 pcs. lemniscate cranes. The cranes are bought from the Dutch stevedore company OBA and have a hoisting capacity of 16 tons. The scope of supply include among other things the hard- and software engineering and delivery of all drive- and control panels. This engineering job is done by the engineers of Elro. In the Elro workshop the control panels are assembled and tested. For the hoist 2 pcs. of 200 kW squirrel cage motors are supplied, each controlled by a 250 kW Schneider frequency drive. For the boom movement a 110 kW squirrel cage motor is supplied, controlled by a 110 kW frequency drive and for the slewing motion 2 pcs. squirrel cage motors of each 75 kW are supplied. The slewing motion is controlled by 2 pcs. frequency drives, each 90 kW. The brand used for the frequency drives is Schneider, type Altivar 71. The motors are of the make Elma. The centre of the control system is a Siemens PLC. The old brakes are replaced by new sibre thrusters and in the cabin a new control chair, make Spohn & Burkhardt, of which Elro is the distributer for Romania, is installed. Furthermore a new load measurement system, make Pat kruger, is installed. Apart form the main parts also the field instruments like limit switches are replaced. Also the old cabling is dismantled and new cables are installed. The first crane, kwown at OBA as Gemini 4, is transterred to the custormer in December 2011. The second crane, Gemini 3, is transferred to the customer February 2012.
